30 Days of Skins: Day 9 - Your favorite scene

Returning to this… :)

My favorite scene…well, I have several. Given the HUGE Hardlet shipper I am, two of them are Rich/Grace scenes.

“Maybe stories are just stories…or maybe we can make our life a story.”| “O wonder! How many goodly creatures are there here! How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world! That has such people in’t!”

The first is the proposal scene from 5x07.  I cried so hard/squee’d when Rich proposed.  I love Hardlet so much for scenes just like this…who would’ve ever imagined Metal Man Rich climbing up a window, reciting Romeo & Juliet and proposing to Grace?  No one.  But love- true love- does amazing and unpredictable things. ♥

My second favorite Hardlet scene comes from 6x01, when Rich and Grace are in their “room” and sunbathing.  I just LOVE the banter between the two of them…honestly, it reminds me of me and my boyfriend.  They’re just so light and carefree together, and so freaking adorable.  This scene makes me laugh every time I watch it, even if it is a little bittersweet now.

And then, in a non-Hardlet scene, but still Gen 3, my third favorite is the ending of 6x10.  I’ve definitely watched the last 5 minutes of this episode more than I’ve watched any other scene from Skins…it’s just so incredibly poignant and perfect.  From Matty/Nick hugging, to Franky seeing her mom (oh, I get a lump in my throat just thinking about it!), to Liv/Alex having their last moment, to Rich getting the last word…all of it is perfect.  However, it’s always the look that Mini and Alo share right after Mini gives birth that just really gets me.  So much love and beauty and hope and promise…and GOD SKINS WHY ARE YOU SO FUCKING BRILLIANT?!

  1. She is possibly the nicest character ever seen on Skins.
  2. I can relate to her in so many ways.
  3. She has passions and ambitions.
  4. She loves animals.
  5. She’s a little bit random, which makes her all the more adorable. (“YES WE CAN!”)
  6. She never gives up. (One of her best qualities, because let’s face it if she gave up on Rich… well, we probably wouldn’t have gotten Hardlet so early on in series 5 or maybe ever. :( )
  7. She is a very talented and gifted person. Let’s count the ways: She can sing, dance and act. She can make gorgeous clothes as well. Did anyone forget the teddy bear shawl-thing for the fashion show? Made by the fabulous Grace Violet Blood.
  8. She’s very mature for her age, but never got rid of the child within.
  9. She believes in fairytales and I don’t see anything wrong with that.
  10. She’s got a naughty side, but also very innocent and naive about certain things.

I still think Rich/Grace are going to have a Romeo & Juliet parallel plot…

So I was thinking about this today during Zumba (of all times/places) but I really feel like the Skins writers were setting up a Romeo & Juliet parallel for Rich and Grace’s relationship and I still think it’s going to happen.  

My theory is this: As some have said, perhaps Mr. Blood WAS lying to Rich about Grace being dead.  I think it’s terribly odd and suspicious that he came back to the house alone- where was Mrs. Blood?  Perhaps back in Switzerland with Grace, preparing for a new life?  Mr. Blood, as controlling as he is, figured the only way to keep Rich out of Grace’s life permanently, would be to fake her death, while he and his family start over in Switzerland.  Meanwhile, Rich falls into a deep depression after Grace’s death, and because he can’t seem to move on, decides his only choice is suicide. At some point in the season- maybe the finale- Grace will return to Bristol, find out that Rich has killed himself, and kill herself too, in order to be with him “eternally.”

This is the only possible way I’ll be okay with the Rich/Grace plot ending, because even though I hate the idea of them dying, at least this way it’ll be poetic and beautifully tragic, instead of Grace just dying and living Rich behind without her :/

And, if not, I’m gonna write a fucking fan fiction about it.
